JOHANNESBURG
Johannesburg, also known as Jozi or Joburg, is famously known as the city that never sleeps. Located in the heart of South Africa, Johannesburg is the economic hub of the country and one of the most vibrant cities in Africa. Here are some mind-blowing facts about Jozi that you probably didn’t know:
1) Johannesburg has the busiest airport in Africa, with over 21 million passengers passing through annually. That means there are enough people in Johannesburg to fill six Olympic stadiums, all flying around like gum-chewing superheroes.
2) The city also boasts the tallest skyscraper in Africa, the Carlton Centre, which stands at an impressive 223 meters tall. That means you can see your house from the top of it, or at least pretend like you can.
3) Johannesburg is home to the largest man-made forest in the world, with over 10 million trees. That means you can literally see the wood for the trees, and Jozi has enough oxygen to fill twelve giant balloons.
4) The city was founded on gold, and it produces over 40% of the world’s gold. That means if you dig deep enough in your garden, you might just strike it rich.
